Terms of service

Last updated: 17 September 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and InsureBloc (“we”, “us”) for using the InsureBloc service. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Who can use InsureBloc

InsureBloc is for business use by insurance agents, advisors and agency leaders. You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract. If you use the service for a company or agency, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf.

You remain responsible for meeting your own professional and regulatory obligations, including those set by the Insurance Authority, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and your principal. InsureBloc is a working tool. It is not your regulated record-keeping system.

3. Your account

Give accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password secret; we recommend turning on two-step verification. An account is for one person and must not be shared. You are responsible for activity under your account, so tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.

4. Plans and fees

InsureBloc is currently free of charge while it is in beta. Our published prices are on the Pricing page, and team pricing is arranged with us directly.

We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before any charge applies to your account. You will never be charged unless you have first given payment details and agreed to a plan. If you do not want to pay, you can export your data and close your account at any time.

5. Your data and the Privacy Ordinance

You keep all rights in the records you put into InsureBloc. For the personal data in those records, about your prospects, recruits and clients, you are the data user under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (“the Ordinance”), and we are your data processor. We process that data only on your behalf and on your instructions, which means only to provide the service to you, and never for purposes of our own.

For your own account details we are the data user, as our Privacy Policy explains.

6. Your responsibilities as the data user

You are responsible for complying with the Ordinance for the personal data you record. In particular, you agree that you will:

  • collect personal data lawfully and fairly, and only what you need for your work;
  • tell people, on or before collecting their data, why you are collecting it and who it may be passed to, including that it is stored with a service provider outside Hong Kong;
  • keep records accurate, and delete them when you no longer need them;
  • obtain consent before using anyone’s data for direct marketing, and honour opt-out requests, as Part 6A of the Ordinance requires;
  • respond to data access and correction requests from the people in your records. The export and edit tools are there to help you do this;
  • use your “Add me” QR code and link only where people can see who they are giving their details to.

Do not store Hong Kong identity card numbers or copies, passport numbers, bank or payment card numbers, or passwords in InsureBloc. Record health or other sensitive information only where it is necessary, and keep it to the minimum.

7. What we commit to as your processor

So that you can meet your own obligations under the Ordinance, we commit to the following:

  • Security. We protect your records against unauthorised or accidental access, processing, erasure, loss or use, using the measures described in our Privacy Policy, and we keep each agent’s records isolated from every other agent’s.
  • Confidentiality. Only authorised staff can open your account, only in a read-only view for support or investigation, and every access is logged. They are bound by confidentiality.
  • Service providers. We use the providers listed in our Privacy Policy to host and process data, and we remain responsible to you for what they do with it. When you scan a business card, you instruct us to send the image to Google to be read.
  • Retention. We keep your records only while your account is open. When you delete a record or your account, we delete it as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Requests. We give you tools to export, correct and delete records, and we will help you respond to a data access or correction request where those tools are not enough.
  • Incidents. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your records, we will tell you without undue delay and give you the information you reasonably need to assess it and notify anyone you must.
  • Return of data. You can download everything in your account at any time, including before you close it.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use InsureBloc to break the law, to send unsolicited messages in breach of the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance or Part 6A of the Ordinance, or to store data you have no right to hold. Do not try to access another user’s data, probe or disrupt the service, get around its limits, scrape it, or resell it without our written agreement.

9. Third-party services

InsureBloc links to or works with services run by others, such as WhatsApp, WeChat and Google. They are governed by their own terms, we are not affiliated with them, and we are not responsible for them.

10. Intellectual property

We own the InsureBloc service, software and brand. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service while these terms are in force. You give us permission to host and process your records solely to provide the service to you.

11. Changes and availability

We improve the service constantly and may add, change or remove features. The service is in beta and may be unavailable from time to time. We aim to give reasonable notice of anything that significantly reduces what you can do. Keep your own copy of anything important; the export tools make this easy.

12. Not professional advice

InsureBloc does not give insurance, financial, tax or legal advice. Commission, sales and headcount figures are calculated from what you enter and are your own working records.

13. Suspending and ending

You can stop using InsureBloc and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or that the law requires us to close. Unless the law prevents it, we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to export your data.

When an account is closed, its records are deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. The sections of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as those on liability and governing law, continue to apply.

14. Disclaimers and liability

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is”, without warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Hong Kong law, including the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71).

Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, business, commission or goodwill, or for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period and HKD 1,000.

15. Your indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because you broke these terms or the Ordinance in how you collected or used the personal data in your records, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top. For a material change we will give you at least 14 days’ notice by email or in the app. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept it; if you do not agree, you can export your data and close your account.

17. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Hong Kong courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623). If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service. You may not transfer your rights under them without our consent.

If the English and Chinese versions of these terms differ, the English version prevails.
